Moogly CAL 2015

As I told you all a few posts ago, I'm joining in with the Moogly CAL this year, making 24 afghan squares to turn into a blanket for my bed! I'm also working my way through the 2014 CAL motifs (which completely passed me by last years) to make it an enormous blanket!

This week saw the announcement of the first motif! Yay!

Tamara's Kismet Square by Jessie at Home is beautiful! I just love all the tall stitches looped through each other to give texture and interest to the square. I found the pattern really well written although tricky to follow on my iPad as there are a lot of repeats to keep track of. It would have been easier to print it out then I could have written and highlighted all over it but I was far too impatient to get started.

So here is my completed first square.

W.I.P Wednesday - Crochet Lego Blanket

It's a bit of a miserable Wednesday here as the weather isn't too great. Nevertheless, I've got a coffee and chocolate loaf cake baking in the oven ready to take to a friends tomorrow - if it lasts that long - and a blog post about my current.W.I.P (work in progress)
After much protesting from Mr Bunny, I've finally got around to working on his blanket.  I don't.blame him for the protesting, honestly, as I started his blanket way back on boxing day last year.
The pattern is The Lego Blanket by Andrea Baker, which I purchases on Etsy, and involves making lots of crocheted lego bricks, using the bobble stitch to make the nobbly bits you get on top of the bricks.
The pattern is really well written and includes a detailed photo tutorial as well, making it a great project for beginners.
I've got a pretty long way to go on it yet but, you never know, I may finish it before next Boxing Day.  Maybe.

WIP Wednesday - Granny Square Coat

I currently have 2 projects on the go at the moment - The Lego Blanket for Mr Bunny (mentioned in last weeks WIP post, and a crochet granny square coat for me!

I started the coat earlier this week after my Mum put the idea in my head. After a bit of browsing and pinning on Pinterest, I made a few sketches and started to design it. Now I've started to make it, the design is changing but I'm just going with the flow!

The picture shows the waistband (which was initially the squares but is now the striped panel) and the start of the `skirt`of the coat. I'm working in purple and teal with a pink accent. I'm really excited about it and can't wait to show you more next week!

Until next time.
