Words of Wisdom - Yarn

OK, so today's Words of Wisdom aren't quite as sensible or inspiring as usual but they are relevant!

This week is a particularly yarny week.  Today I taught a beginners crochet workshop at The Coven (an amazing vegetarian/vegan/gluten free cafe in Wigan).  It was amazing and very challenging.  I really enjoyed sharing my love of crochet with some awesome ladies who, hopefully, have now gone away hooking away and creating some gorgeousnesses!  They worked really hard and, at times, you could have heard a pin drop!

Friday and Saturday it is Woolfest!  Yay!  If you have never heard of Woolfest then where have you been? It is an annual fibre festival held in Cockermouth in Cumbria.  There is plenty of yarny goodness, demonstrations, talks about sheep, entertainment, ewes milk ice cream and local produce.  You can easily spend all day there.  This year I'm going up on the Friday and from 10am-11am you can find me on the Artybird stall chatting to people about the fabulous courses they provide (if you are there, pop along and say hi!)

Saturday is knitting group, The Coven Stitchers, in The Coven, Wigan and hopefully the sun will shine and we will be able to sit outside and knit and natter.

A very yarny week I'm sure you'll agree. And so here are my Words of Wisdom!

Until next time,

Words of Wisdom - Shut Up!

I apologise for the abruptness of the title if this post but, as you read on, all will become clear!

This week's Words of Wisdom have been inspired by me and what I've been doing far too much of this week - thinking the worst. As someone who is prone to periods of anxiety, every now and again I think the worst. I jump to conclusions. I overthink and over analyse situations.  I know when I'm doing it that I shouldn't and then have to spend time talking and reasoning with myself and thinking the situation through logically to make myself feel less anxious. Later, I often find out that actually my initial thoughts were completely wrong and that I've wasted all this time and energy dealing with something that never was.

So, this week I'm going to follow these words and tell that negative committee, those anxious thoughts, in my head to shut up!

Words of Wisdom - Inspiration

It has been a while since I wrote a Words of Wisdom post. Maybe it's because I've not been inspired to?

We all need a little bit of inspiration now and then and I've had bucketloads this past week.  Just getting away for a week and recharging my batteries has filled me with inspiration.  We spent a lot of time outside exploring and I took lots of photgraphs, mainly of flowers and views.  I relaxed, I sat in the sun, we enjoyed picnics by the river and I took time to draw in charcoal and pastel and to crochet for me.

I found that lots of ideas came to me as I was sat in the sun, and I returned home ready to get creating and hopefully will be able to share some of these ideas soon.

So today's Words of Wisdom are inspired by my inspiration - you have to get out there and live life to be inspired!

What is inspiring you at the moment?

Until next time.

Enjoying the sunshine!

What glorious weather we have had today! Me and Mr Bunny have made.good use of it to. We started the day in Peebles where we visited a few fabulously arty places.
First we we went to the museum where there is currently an exhibition of work by the Embroiderers Guild. It was a shame we couldn't take photographs because the work was truly amazing and totally inspired me. My favourite piece  was an enormous wall hanging in bright colours - there is a little snap of it below which I got out of the gallery guide!
Then we headed over to the Moy Mackay gallery to drool over her beautiful felt pictures (Google her to see them!)
We then enjoyed a picnic by the River Tweed with our cakes purchased from Cocoa Black before heading off to the Tibetan and Buddhist Centre at Eskdalemuir. This is a beautiful, tranquil place we first visited last year. You can stroll around the gardens, visit the temple, take a hike up Fairy Hill, shop and enjoy a drink in the tearooms.
Finally, we visited the Borders Textile Towerhouse in Hawick which is a museum all about the textile and cashmere industry.
Later on we plan to go for a little walk to visit the sheep!
Who knows what the rest of the week will bring!

A Very Animally Day!

Hello from a very sunny and warm Scotland! I am enjoying a well earned week away with Mr Bunny in the Scottish Borders.

Today we have visited Main Street Bookshop in Newton, the Roman Fort in Melrose and The Scottish Donkey Sanctuary.

We always visit the donkey sanctuary when we are up here and join one of their donkey tours where you get to meet and feed the donkeys! They also have shetland ponies, llamas, goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, peacocks and even frogs in their pond! All the donkeys are rescued and they do an absolutely amazing job!

On the way back we were happily held up by the farmer herding the sheep down a lane to a new field. In true sheep fashion, many of them tried to stop for a snack on the way!!

I have a few crafty visits planned for the week and will keep you posted on these!
